The following job opportunities have become available, based at our Sighthill warehouse, Edinburgh.
The position of Warehouse Manager involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the warehouse and ensuring that the day to day work of processing customer orders is completed in a timely manner.
You will report to the General Manager and be responsible for: the maintenance of stock records; ordering of packaging materials; maintenance of equipment; health and safety at the warehouse site; site security and maintenance; courier/Royal mail liaison; picking and despatch of orders; receipt of incoming stock; maintenance of bulk store and picking stock; liaison with office staff; dealing with customers who visit to purchase books; maintaining the high standards of packaging and despatch for which we are known.
Experience of warehouse stock control and order processing systems is required, and you will need a reasonable level of computer literacy. You must be familiar with manual handling regulations as the work will involve considerable manual handling activities during stock control and order despatch. You must be a self-starter, able to prioritise and organise your own work, and manage the work of others. You must be able to demonstrate good numeracy and literacy skills and be an enthusiastic, fast, and accurate worker.
A forklift licence would be advantageous but not essential as training can be provided. A full driving licence is required. Training in methods and standards of packing for our books will be provided.
We also have a vacancy for a warehouse person.
Main duties are: packing and despatch of books worldwide to fulfil customer orders; maintenance of picking and bulk storage stock; receipt of incoming stock; stock location maintenance; and general warehouse duties. Depending on the skills of the successful applicant, some general office duties, such as processing incoming orders, may be included in the work.
The person needs to be an enthusiastic and fast worker, and good numeracy and literacy skills are required. The work involves considerable amounts of manual handling activities.
A forklift licence would be advantageous but not essential as training can be provided. A full driving licence is required. There may be periods of lone working, a safety system is provided for this. Training in methods and standards of packing for our books will be provided.
