Here we encounter the great Hodge lineage;\u00a0the broad scholarship of B. B. Warfield; the\u00a0brilliance of Geerhardus Vos; the emergence\u00a0of the young J. Gresham Machen. And\u00a0through them we are introduced to the army\u00a0of men they taught, loved, and sent through-out the world to serve Jesus Christ. It is a story\u00a0which enables us to catch a glimpse of what,\u00a0under God, scholarship, seminary life and Christian fellowship can be.<\/p>\n

But faithfulness to Christ and Scripture may\u00a0well lead to conflict, as the Princetonians\u00a0often stressed. One such conflict would eventually divide the faculty itself and cause the\u00a0loss of some of its brightest stars, as Dr.\u00a0Calhoun records. He has given us a narrative\u00a0of joy and sorrow, surprise and disappointment, triumph and sometimes tears. All this\u00a0and more lies in the story of Princeton Seminary between 1869 and 1929.<\/p>\n

This is indeed a ‘majestic testimony’ and it leaves upon us the same conviction that\u00a0Archibald Alexander’s grandson expressed at the Seminary’s centenary in 1912;\u00a0‘If the sort\u00a0of theology which is taught here should die,\u00a0and its enemies should grant it a decent burial,\u00a0like the Lord of Life Himself, it will have a\u00a0triumphant resurrection.
