Chas & Norma Ellis

Charles Herbert Ellis (1917-2003) was educated at Wheaton College (1939) and Westminster Theological Seminary. Upon graduation from Westminster (Th.B., Th.M.), he was ordained to the ministry in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and pastored a number of OPC churches, including Immanuel OPC in West Collingswood, New Jersey; First OPC in Cincinnati, Ohio; Covenant OPC in East Orange, New Jersey; Knox OPC in Silver Spring, Maryland; and Lakeview OPC in Rockport, Maine, from where he retired in 1984.

Born in St. George, Maine, Charles was the son of Charles Harold and Harriet Wright Ellis. He married Norma Remsen Ellis (1915-2008) in December 1942, and they were together for over sixty years until his death in February, 2003, following a lengthy illness. Both lived latterly in the Presbyterian Retirement Community in Quarryville, PA, where Norma went to be with Lord in August 2008. Charles and Norma had seven children – three sons and four daughters. One son, John, predeceased his parents. They had twenty-one grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Charles and Norma Ellis were the authors of Heirs Together of Life, a book of daily Bible readings, and The Wells of Salvation, studies in the book of Isaiah, both published by the Trust.
