Edward Morgan

Edward Morgan (1783-1869) was born at Pyle in Glamorgan. He graduated from Jesus College, Oxford, in 1806 and served various parishes in England. He was appointed to the vicarage of Syston, Leicester, in 1814, to which was added the nearby vicariate of Ratcliffe-on-the-Wreake in 1818, and in these rural charges he remained until his death in June 1869.

Morgan wrote extensively, particularly concerning the work of God in his native Wales. His published works amounted to nineteen volumes, including biographies of Daniel Rowland, William Williams, Thomas Charles and many others. He was the editor of the letters and papers of Thomas Charles published by the Trust as Thomas Charles’ Spiritual Counsels, and wrote the account of the life of John Elias, which appears in John Elias: Life and Letters.
