Ebenezer Porter

Ebenezer Porter (1772-1834) had a distinguished career as a pastor, author, and seminary professor. Born in Connecticut, he graduated from Dartmouth College in 1792, and then studied theology at Bethlehem, CT. In 1796 he became pastor of the Congregational church at Washington, CT. In 1812 he was appointed professor of sacred rhetoric at Andover Theological Seminary, Massachusetts and in 1827 its president, retaining the positions until his death.

Porter’s Letters on Revival, published by the Trust, were originally written in 1832 to the Committee of the Revival Association at Andover Seminary.
