Theodore L. Cuyler Books

Born in Aurora, New York in 1822, Theodore Ledyard Cuyler graduated from Princeton University in 1841, and then Princeton Theological Seminary in 1846. He pastored churches in New Jersey and New York; he oversaw the building of the Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, which became the largest Presbyterian church in the country. Cuyler knew the following noted preachers, among others: Horatius Bonar, Charles Spurgeon, Charles G. Finney, and D.L. Moody. He resigned from congregation-specific ministry in 1890 and wrote Christian material, including books and articles that comforted other people. Theodore L. Cuyler books include God’s Light on Dark Clouds, which includes material he wrote after losing a daughter at the age of twenty-one. No stranger to losing children, having already lost two in infancy, material he wrote became a bestseller as it comforted the bereaved and despondent, shining a light into the darkness.
