Cornelis P. Venema Books
Cornelis P. Venema received a BA from Dordt College in Iowa in 1975, a BD from Calvin Theological Seminary in Michigan in 1978, and his Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1985. He served as the pastor of churches in California and Illinois, and then went to Mid-America Reformed Seminary in Indiana, where he now serves as president and professor of doctrinal studies. Cornelis P. Venema’s books include The Promise of the Future, in which he seeks to survey the Bible’s teaching on the future of Christ’s church. Readers will appreciate Venema’s fair explanation of various doctrinal positions, including premillennialism, postmillennialism and amillennialism. This title is a very thorough, but profitable read and will be helpful to lay readers and for those in ministry. In Christ and the Future, he abridges the first book for non-specialists. In another book, The Gospel of Free Acceptance in Christ, he critically assesses new interpretations of Paul’s doctrine of justification from biblical and theological standpoints; and, in Getting the Gospel Right, he assesses the Reformation and new Pauline perspectives.
