Book Description
The full edition of Edwards’ Works, in two volumes.
When published in 1834, this edition of The Works of Jonathan Edwards was more complete than any others available to the public. It has been carefully revised by collation of all previous editions. This Banner of Truth edition is a reprint of the 1834 edition, and includes a memoir by Edwards’ great-grandson, Sereno E. Dwight, and has been revised and edited by Edward Hickman.
‘In my early days in the ministry there were no books which helped me more, both personally and in respect of my preaching, than this two-volume edition of The Works of Jonathan Edwards . . . I devoured these volumes and literally just read and read them. It is certainly true that they helped me more than anything else. If I had the power I would make these two volumes compulsory reading for all ministers! Edwards seems to satisfy all round; he really was an amazing man.’ — D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
- Contains all matter included in the first collected American edition published at Worcester.
- Includes the various original extracts from the diary and papers of Jonathan Edwards, first published in America by his descendant, Sereno E. Dwight in 1830.
- Several smaller pieces, printed originally in a separate form are also included in this volume.

Rebecca Mayer –
My set is well-worn over the past decade, pouring over them, confirming everything Lloyd-Jones found between these covers. Calvin’s Institutes first and foremost, but not to miss Jonathan Edwards…so very beautiful.
At first I was bothered by the tiny print, then I found that to grasp the whole I needed those full pages to refer back to and read carefully through. Now I appreciate the small type.
Reserve large blocks of time for each sitting…don’t cheat yourself with a few minutes here and there, or you’ll miss the glorious big picture he develops. Blessings.

The two volume works of Edwards is a life long gold mine that I have benefited from continually. Works like The “end for which God created the world” was fundamentally used by God to guide my understanding of God in scripture and his purpose and glory, in life changing ways. You can’t walk away from reading Edwards without having a bigger view of God then you did before.
It has to be said, that the sheer amount of material in these works means you will have a lifelong resource and treasure at your disposal. I’ve already bought two sets for brothers that I wanted to bless and I couldn’t recommend these amazing books to you more! If you’re thinking about reading Edwards but not sure about buying the whole set? I would encourage you that between his massive amount of books and sermons and miscellaneous writings this set is an amazing treasures and I wouldn’t hesitate to encourage you to pick to buy the works of Jonathan Edwards, they’re worth every penny!

Simply put, wow. Just bought a set for my friend’s birthday. Couldn’t help myself, so I bought a set for myself as well. Order came in today and after flipping through volume one I realized something. This is not a set I will read once and be done with. I can already tell this well be a set of books that I come back to for the rest of my life. Simply put, I cannot wait to read the mind of the greatest theologian that this wonderful country, America, has produced. Thank you Banner of Truth for printing the reformed works of the Church! SOLI DEO GLORIA!

What truly deep knowledge of the scriptures are displayed by Johnathan Edwards in these two immense volumes. Such a powerful mind and deep thinker. I am amazed at how this man’s mind works and an staggered at the depth of his understanding. These two volumes are truly a spiritual feast for the Christian who desires a deep understanding of the scriptures and desires to expand their thinking skills. The font is quite small and these books are larger in size than your average book. Could of easily been 6 to 8 normal size books. Will take a good while to read but are well worth the effort. Reading Johnathan Edwards is like riding a thoroughbred.
